As we get closer to the opening of our survival center, we are excited to introduce La Plazita which will be a key part of our new building. La Plazita will be an indoor and outdoor space that is designed to take our Latinx immigrant community back to the sights, smells, and tastes of home. La Plazita is inspired by the plazas, mercados, and outdoor spaces that are an important part of life in Latin countries.
La Plazita was created in partnership with MassDevelopment. MassDevelopment awarded La Colaborativa a $50,000 Commonwealth Places implementation grant to develop this space. Once completed, La Plazita will be a community space where our members can gather, connect, celebrate, and create memories right in the heart of Chelsea. There will be a covered area with picnic and domino tables that will host visiting food vendors, cultural celebrations, live music, and other special events.
La Plazita will be an exciting place to be once completed, and with access to all our programs and services at La Colaborativa right next door, it will become a popular space for our community members to enjoy.
