On Saturday, May 15, La Colaborativa welcomed 175 mothers from the local community for a brunch-style celebration of Mother’s Day. Mothers are essential to the survival of our community. Many of them have lost their jobs during the pandemic and still have to figure out how to care for their families. We planned this special moment to recognize all the hard-working women who persist during these difficult times.
And we weren’t the only ones who felt it was important to acknowledge and honor mothers. The event was sponsored by several area businesses and organizations including Latinas Para Latinas, Senior Whole Health, Stop & Shop, and Tu Casa Restaurant. Because of their help and support, we were able to provide a nice meal, a festive drink and dessert, music, a raffle and gift bags filled with personal care products.
Mothers expressed their gratitude for this brief moment of celebration. We are so grateful to the donors who made this event possible, to the La Colaborativa staff who work tirelessly to support the community, and to all of you for continuing to support our organization as we push through all the difficult times of this pandemic.
